Our Mission:

Our mission is to educate the public about Greyhounds and to find loving, quality, forever homes for them.  Our interest does not stop once the dog is adopted.  We offer Greyhound support and try to work with adopter and dog to solve any problems that may arise.

Greyhound Facts

Retired racing Greyhounds as pets are gentle in nature and are non aggressive dogs.  They prefer to be a part of the family unit or pack inside the home and should not be kept as an outside dog.  Some prefer the company of other Greyhounds and some can be ok with other animal companions.  It all depends on the individual dog.

However, given the fact Greyhounds are of the sight hound family, never trust a Greyhound off lead in an unsecured fenced area.  It only takes one time for them to get loose from you and for you to lose a precious four legged family member forever.

What about Adoption?

Looking to adopt or are you needing information about Greyhounds?  Show Me Greyhounds is an adoption and resource group who can help you even if you do not reside in the state of Missouri.

We are a small all volunteer group who is dedicated to helping retired racing Greyhounds find their forever home.  We are neutral and we concentrate our efforts on educating the public about Greyhounds, Special Needs Greyhounds, Senior Greyhounds and Greyhound adoption.

For those living outside the Kansas City Metropolitan / North of the River area, we have a list of Greyhound adoption groups and agencies we can refer you to.  However, please understand, we do not govern over their adoption policies, procedures and adoption fee's.
